I'm a philosopher interested in technology and democracy. My work sits at the intersection of political philosophy, ethics, and the philosophy of technology, with a current focus on the normative implications of platform policy and the digital public sphere. I investigate the philosophical foundations of content moderation policy and algorithmic curation, the democratic implications of online speech governance, and increasingly, the ethical challenges posed by large language models.
I am the founder and co-organizer of PhilMod.org, a community of academic researchers and technology professionals interested in the ethics of social media platform policy.
I received my Ph.D. from the Université Paris-Sorbonne and held postdoctoral fellowships at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics and the Centre de recherche en éthique at the Université de Montréal. Before joining the University of Ottawa, I was Associate Professor at San José State University, in California.
Je suis un philosophe qui s'intéresse au rapport entre technologie et démocratie. Mes recherches se situent à l'intersection de la philosophie politique, de l'éthique et de la philosophie de la technologie. Je m'intéresse actuellement aux implications normatives des politiques des plateformes numériques et de la sphère publique en ligne. J'étudie les fondements philosophiques de la modération de contenu et de la curation algorithmique, les implications démocratiques de la gouvernance de l'expression en ligne, et de plus en plus, les défis éthiques et politiques posés par les grands modèles de langage.
Je suis le fondateur et co-organisateur de PhilMod.org, une communauté de chercheurs universitaires et de professionnels de la technologie intéressés par l'éthique des politiques des plateformes de médias sociaux.
J'ai obtenu mon doctorat à l'Université Paris-Sorbonne et j'ai effectué des stages postdoctoraux à l'Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics et au Centre de recherche en éthique de l'Université de Montréal. Avant de rejoindre l'Université d'Ottawa, j'étais professeur agrégé à la San José State University, en Californie.
